Prerequisite

To follow this recipe, you need the following prerequisites:
  • Python
  • The pip management tool
  • Sign up for an account on Sectors

Install required libraries

  • Install the requests library to make HTTP Requests
  • Install pandas to do some data exploratory
  • In this cookbook we will use altair to do the data visualization 
    pip install requests
pip install pandas
pip install altair

Configure the sample

In this example we will examine how to make your first request to the Sectors Financial API
  1. Go to Sectors Financial API Page
  2. Find the API Keys Section and click the Create API Key button to generate the key
  3. Save the API Key because we will use that to access Sectors Financial API
  4. In your working directory, create this file named first_request.py
  5. Include the following code in first_request.py 
    import requests

url = "https://api.sectors.app/v1/subsectors/"

headers = {
 "Authorization": API_KEYS

Run your sample

  1. In your working directory, build and run the sample: 
    python first_request.py
  2. You should see the list of all subsectors!
